Giuseppe Cornacchia
Giuseppe Cornacchia is an Italian scientist, aged 35, living and studying at postgraduate level in UK since 2006. Over the last decade, he has earned publication of poems and good reviews in Italy; he founded in 2002 (and still co-manages) a small well-known literary portal at which you can visit by clicking here.
This chapbook is a partial translation into English language of his latest collection, published in Italy by Fara Editore in 2006.
Ci sarà qualcuno a dire che scrivo
ed altri d’accordo annuire.
E chiedono soldi per leggermi;
e fanno dei versi un crogiolo
cento storpi che sciacano a braccio
a cercare conforto.
There will be someone saying that I write
and other people agree, nodding.
And they will ask for money to read
and turn my verses into a crucible,
a hundred cripples blathering away
looking for reassurance.
